Pentecost Worship May 20

In our tradition, Pentecost is the celebration (roughly 50 days after Easter) of the coming of God’s Spirit into our world and lives in new and transformative ways. According to the prophet Joel (2.28-29), the ‘ruach’ (Wind/Breath/Spirit) opens all people to the Presence of God and invites all people to join in embodying the realm of God. People young and old will dream and have visions of hope, being set free from the way things are now and entering into a whole new economy of creation that God is establishing. The Holy Spirit breaks us out of our preoccupation with ourselves and our lives and empowers us to serve our neighbors, loosens our grasp on possessions, and opens our heart to love all people. Pentecost is a sign of a new Creation!

Come join us on Sunday, 20 May, for a special worship celebration at 9.30am in our Sanctuary. We will be led in worship by our confirmation students, some of whom will be baptized and welcomed into membership at Moreland. Wear RED (the traditional color signifying the Presence of the Spirit), and be ready to be inspired and empowered!
