MOPS - Mothers of Preschoolers
A program for all moms that share a similar desire to be the very best moms they can be. MOPS provides an accepting atmosphere where friendships are formed, leadership opportunities are developed, and spiritual growth is nurtured. MOPS meets the first and third weeks of each month: on Thursday nights from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. and Friday mornings from 9:30am - 11:30am.
During the summer MOPS meets the 1st and 3rd Friday at Berkley Park (corner of 39th & SE Bybee Blvd.) from 10:00am - 11:30am.
The MOPPETS program provides quality childcare while the moms are attending their meeting. The age of children will range from birth through six-year olds. The MOPPETS program is currently filled for 2007/08.
Sunday School at Moreland
Molding strong and vibrant Christians comes from providing a Biblical foundation for our children. We help our children build strong supportive relationships within the church so that they might be a part of a church family that models and reinforces Christian faith and values.
Infant,toddler and older toddler care is provided each Sunday morning. Sunday School classes are available for students through 8th grade.
SUMMER Sunday School Starts June 1st. We will be using a one room center based curriculum and a modified schedule due to the remodeling. Please click on the schedule to view what is going on!!!

LOGOS is a mid-week program for children from 1st - 5th grades - This program has four parts; Worship Skills (which includes Children's Choir & Acolyte training), Bible Study, Family time and Recreation.
The children of LOGOS did their final flyaway in March. Vacation Bible School -Swing into the Rain Forest!
VBS will be July 14-18 from 9-12 at Holy Family church located on 39th. It includes bible study, crafts, and recreation each day of that week. Registration forms are available at Moreland Presbyterian or Holy Family.
Parent and Children education workshops
We hold several of these during the year, with themes of Advent, Epiphany, and Lent.

MID-WEEK CLASSES:
Beginning May 12, 2008, Pastor Tom McKnight will lead a three-week series of classes on living in Jerusalem today, from Christian, Muslim, and Jewish perspectives. The classes are held Monday evenings, and repeated Tuesday mornings and Tuesday evenings. Check the calendar for date, time and location.
LOOKING AHEAD TO AUTUMN 2008:
Getaway - Moreland's intergenerational retreat - will take place October 3-5, 2008 at Twin Rocks Center in Rockaway. Program includes guest speaker, children and youth program, small groups, fun, eating, building relationships.
This year Pastor Tom McKnight will be our leader, speaking on "A Window into Two Very Different Worlds, and a Challenge to Us at Moreland: Orthodox Christianity and Ultra-Orthodox Judaism."

Library
Moreland has a complete library with a wide array of books for adults and children.
Please note that, beginning April 1, 2008, the Library will be closed due to remodeling work in the office wing.
Music
Includes an Adult Choir under the direction of Judy Thompson; a Children's choir under the direction of Tina Paradiso, a Praise Band under the direction of Dave Newton and a Bell Choir under the direction of Barb Lary.

Stephen Ministers are trained lay caregivers who visit individuals carrying a heavy burden, listen to a person's story or pray with those individuals.
Women's Association

Women's association holds a winter and spring gathering to bring together the women of the church around a common meal and program. Groups in Women's association include circles that meet monthly for support, work projects and education. The women at Moreland have an ongoing Yarn Ministry (members of the congregation knit hats and mittens for local schools and Portland Public School PTA Clothes Closet).
- Elizabeth Circle - meets 4th Tuesday at noon at the church/brown bag lunch.
- Joanna Circle - meets the 4th Monday at noon
- Lydia Circle - meets the 2nd Thursday in the evening
- Rhoda Circle - meets the 2nd Thursday in the evening
- Ruth/Miriam Circle - meets the 4th Wednesday at noon
- Sarah Circle - meets the 2nd Monday in the evening
Ships
Social groups within the church family that meet monthly for social gatherings, church work projects, service to the community

- Clippership - about 22 members, mid-seventies and retired; usually meets in homes, varied programs - 3rd Friday of the month.
- Dinghy Ship - members age 40's and up; usually meets in homes for potlucks and fellowship, outings and annual events.
- Minnow Ship - group consists of couples and individuals in their late 20's and 30's. Some with young children. Like to participate in outdoor events, dinner groups, concerts, social outings and volunteer opportunities at church.
- Mystery Ship - 19 members in 50's and 60's with older children, usually meet in homes; recreational, educational and entertainment outings.
- Polaris Ship - about 20 members, ages 70-90 -usually meets 2nd Friday at 1:30pm at the church or in private homes for programs
- Titanic Ship - 28 members 40's-50's usually meets in homes for fellowship, recreation and discussions. Group supports church activities, sponsored charities and other programs.
- Argos Ship - 40's-60's meets in members' homes and other locations for specific functions that are recreational, educational, and support church mission activities. Ship is open to new members. Generally meets the 3rd Friday of the month.
